By accessing or using StartOCR's website, API, dashboard, and related services (the "Services"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
1. Account registration
You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your API keys and credentials, and for all activity occurring under your account.
2. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Services to:
- Process content that violates applicable law or third-party rights.
- Reverse engineer, scrape, or probe the API beyond documented endpoints.
- Circumvent rate limits, billing meters, or access controls.
- Upload malware, exploits, or files intended to harm infrastructure.
- Resell or redistribute the Services without an enterprise agreement.
3. Subscriptions and billing
Paid plans and page packs are billed through our payment provider. Subscription pages are granted each billing cycle (monthly release on yearly plans). Unused subscription pages may roll over for one additional cycle, up to 1× your monthly quota; remaining rollover then expires. One-time page packs are long-lived credits and are not removed when a subscription ends. Canceling stops future renewals; you retain access through the paid period, after which unused subscription and rollover pages expire while permanent packs remain. We do not auto-charge overage — when balance is insufficient, jobs fail until you top up or renew.

4. Intellectual property
StartOCR retains ownership of the Services, software, and brand assets. You retain ownership of the documents you submit. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Services according to these Terms.
5. Service levels and limitations
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. The Services are provided "as is" without warranties of accuracy for every document type. You are responsible for validating output for critical workflows.
6. Termination
Either party may terminate the agreement at any time. Upon termination, your right to access the Services ceases immediately. We may delete your data in accordance with our retention policy.
7. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, StartOCR's aggregate liability is limited to the amount paid by you in the twelve months preceding the claim.
8. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
9. Changes to these terms
We may modify these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
